Beyoncé and Jay Z were rumored to move to Los Angeles as early as last February, but now their reason for relocating has been revealed: they wanted their daughter Blue Ivy to go to school there. A source told US Weekly that they were drawn to a $19,000-a-year toddler program that focuses on students' individual developmental needs.

Prior to moving to the west coast, Jay Z (who grew up in Brooklyn) and Bey (who grew up in Houston) were based in New York. The couple still owns a loft in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood.

The source said that they are "very involved" at daughter Blue's private school in L.A: "One of them always drops her off or picks her up." Apparently Jay Z even attends PTA meetings. Gwyneth Paltrow, a close friend of the pair, helped influence their decision too. "Gwyneth was telling Jay and Bey about the quality of life for her kids in L.A. and really swayed Beyoncé and Jay to make the move," the source added. "It's all for Blue Ivy."

The couple still spend a lot of time in New York, most recently to support Solange's performance on Saturday Night Live with Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles.
